The team at Flash Forward Flash Back would love to congratulate all the winners of this year's Flash Forward Competition, and especially commend Akea Brown, Lukas Kreibig, Sage Szkabarnicki-Stuart and Liam Mackenzie, winners of the Special Interest categories, respectively Race, Climate, Female Identifying and LGBTQ. As always the works submitted were impressive and inspiring, offering diverse perspectives on our world and on the uses of the photographic medium.
The full list of winners is available here.
In this spirit and in order to further our commitment to promote emerging talent and to foster engaging discussions about photography, its legacy and future, Flash Forward Flash Back is taking the next few months to evaluate how best to meet these objectives. During that time, look back at the articles produced in the last year, from the fascinating conversations with past winners to the enlightening roundtables on topics such as photographing power, covering climate change or LGBTQ+ stories, the role of women in fashion photography, education and honouring the dignity of those in front the lens. And, to learn more about the work of past winners, dive into the Flashbacks or the Jurors Choices sections, where guests explain what sets some series apart. Thank you to all the contributors and participants for sharing your knowledge and thoughts with us.
And, don’t hesitate to send us your feedback and suggestions at laurence@magentafoundation.org. We look forward to hearing from you. See you in the Fall!
